We were very honored to provide decor lighting for the 3rd Annual Wig Out event presented by the Live and Give Foundation aka “Don’t Be A Chump, Check For A Lump” www.CheckForALump.com, and The Joy Bus. This organization offers free wigs to breast cancer patients in Arizona undergoing chemotherapy. Through the Wig Out Program, you can pick out one wig of your choice, up to $250.00 retail price. They work with reputable local wig shops. The wig shop will bill the Live and Give Foundation, Inc. directly – no money out of your pocket. For women who do have insurance coverage for wigs, Wig Out will supplement the insurance allowing you to select a wig that suits you without worrying about the price or a co-pay. If you do not have insurance coverage we will cover the full price up to $250.00. The Joy Bus, www.thejoybus.org, is a Not for Profit organization whose sole purpose is to relieve the daily struggles of homebound cancer patients with a fresh Chef Inspired meal and a friendly face.
This was a particularly rewarding event for us to be involved with. We were happy to work with such a fantastic organization doing wonderful things for those affected with breast cancer. Originally the event was supposed to be held in the ballroom and outdoor patio at the Moon Valley Country Club but due to rain, it had to be moved in to the gymnasium – not nearly as glamorous as the original location. So our challenge was to turn an drab gym into a fab venue and we did that with varying shades of pink uplighting around the entire space. Gymnasium lights don’t dim, so we had to turn them completely off for 3/4 of the room and only use our uplighting as both decor and functional lighting. By varying the shades of pink to include lighter almost pinkish white uplights, a few pinspots as spotlights and an enormous breast cancer awareness ribbon gobo, we were able to transform this gymnasium into a beautiful yet functional event space! We can’t wait to light up next year’s Wig Out event!
